“Portrait of Ireland”
             Oil Paintings and Giclee Prints
        by Robert Johnson, CD ‘87

The urge to paint landscapes in Ireland came after about the fifth trip to that country, according to the artist. “It took me that long to experience Ireland with its many moods, colors, and history.” His wife’s family is from Donegal and Robert Johnson believes that his own grandfather, a Gallagher, also came from that county in Ireland. He says that “there are an awful lot of Gallaghers in County Donegal. I don’t have any proof—I just feel it in my bones.” Most of the paintings in this exhibit were produced within the past year and feature a rich palette of greens. Also on display are giclee prints, a group of digital images made from the paintings and printed on archival paper with archival inks.
